Restaurant Review: Mojave

Having an extra day off this Memorial weekend provided the opportunity for extra sleep, time to get projects done and see a variety of friends. On Saturday night, we met friends in their neighborhood of Astoria, NY for a Southwestern Mexican food experience at Mojave restaurant.

The four of us sat in their enclosed garden patio as the sun slowly descended, with a slight breeze causing the  trees that surrounded us to dance, creating a lovely atmosphere for us to relax, dig in and enjoy our dishes.

To accompany our margaritas (1) spiced with cinnamon (2) infused with sangria, we started with an appetizer: Queso Fundido. This amazing cheese sauce had so much flavor with chucks of crab, artichoke hearts, and chiles served with warm blue corn tortilla chips. Then it was time for the main courses:

Cider brined pork tenderloin, stuffed with chorizo and chiles, served with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus!

Chicken fried steak, served with mashed potatoes and roasted asparagus!

Gulf shrimp tacos with smoked tomato and asparagus, served with rice!

Organic chicken fajitas, served with warm tortillas, guacamole and rice.

For dessert, we sampled two of their options.

Chocolate cake (with molten center), served with banana praline ice cream.
 Cheesecake with guava sauce.
Both equally delightful!
